About

I’ve been thinking lately, about all the parts of my life, and while they contribute to it and help define how I see the world and my priorities, they aren’t me.

So who am I then? Well, me. I love being outdoors — running, biking, swimming, paddling, racing, playing. I love dirt — camping in it, crawling in it, and of course that wonderful feeling of it streaming down my legs and face when I finally do shower. I love my bikes — the flowered tri princess, the sexy carbon speedster, the sturdy ol’ commuter, and the silver bullet of mountain adventure. I love water — salt and waves, river and currents, lake and fish. I love my family — the blood relatives and those friends I’ve added into it. I love challenges — if I don’t try it, how do I know what it feels like, tastes like, smells like, and reminds me of? I love the pain of a good workout — the taste of accomplishment, and reaching a new level. I don’t like bacon, and I don’t like hurting people’s feelings. I don’t always love who I am, but hey this whole life thing is about figuring that out, right? And this is my journey to finding the me that is out there somewhere waiting. Maybe over this next hill I’ll find another clue!

In my grown-up life (yeah, I don’t believe it either) I’m a computer programmer and an office-sitter. I work at a GIS (maps) software company, in particular on the help system for their developer products. This however is really my blog-of-life-adventure, and although I like my job, you’ll rarely if ever find it mentioned here.

So here you will get to read stories (and if you know me maybe you will get to hear them once or twice or a thousand times as well — sorry about that). Stories of adventures I have while testing out those challenges I choose to face, as well as while preparing for them. Lots of stories. Training stories, Ironman stories, adventure race stories, other tri stories, and stories of lessons learned under the sky.

Yo - I came across your blog and thought I would say “hi”. I used to work at the mother ship there and am now with the Denver RO. I believe we met when you were gearing up for IM AZ last year. Hope all is well.
